MECS Training 2025 – Save the dates
MECS training this last year was a resounding success with positive feedback on all sessions. Thank you all for your support, teaching and guidance!
The structured case discussion format proved well liked and able to achieve more targeted learning objectives to consolidate ideal service provision. Having the assistance of some of our practitioner as room facilitators helped ensure that all participants were able to contribute and have the opportunity to learn.
Without a doubt, the biggest highlight of these sessions is having you with us, sharing your tips and expanding our knowledge. It is hoped that you can join us at these monthly evening sessions as often as suits. To assist with your planning & scheduling, this email contains information and links for the entire year.
FYI – All MECS Optoms are required to attend at least 1 session within the first 6 months. Over the year, all MECS Optoms must attend at least 2 sessions within the year. Many choose to attend more than this. We have over 75 practices across South East London involved in the MECS scheme and more information on the services provided can be found via our website.
Session Types
Peer Review: participants bring, present and discuss their own cases in small group settings. Subject area is typically free-range and cases do not need to be MECS related. MECS Optoms will receive 3 interactive CPD points and this session will count towards your GOC peer review requirement.
Peer Discussion: prepared cases are shown and guided elements are discussed in small group settings. This allows for targeted learning for overall service improvement. MECS Optoms will receive 3 interactive CPD points and this session will count towards your GOC peer review requirement.
Teaching Session: a 30-45min presentation by specialist on a given subject. These will be followed by a topic specific peer discussion. Cases will be provided and aim to consolidate your learning of the subject taught. MECS Optoms will receive 3 interactive CPD points when they attend the peer discussion and this session will count towards your GOC peer review requirement.
Recordings of current and previous teaching sessions are available to view via our YouTube Channel.
